Sergeant Ron Helus tragically lost his life in the line of duty on November 8th, 2018, after responding to  an "active shooter" at the Borderline Bar, in the city of Thousand Oaks, California. The shooter was indiscriminately shooting patrons inside the location when Sergeant Helus went in to confront him. He engaged the shooter who returned fire and a firefight ensued. The shooter ultimately retreated into a back room and took his own life. Sergeant Ron Helus was fatally wounded in the exchange, but his heroic actions prevented any further deaths within the large crowd that was still inside.  
 
Sergeant Helus' valorous actions and sacrifice saved many lives that night. Those of us who knew and worked alongside Sergeant Ron Helus were not surprised by his actions and heroism. I'm honored that Ron was an instrumental part in the research & design of  Arctic Xtreme. 
                          Sgt. Ron Helus was a friend, partner and a hero to all of us. He will never be forgotten .
