FAQS

What did testing reveal while using AX ?

Because humidity is what causes the hot, sticky feeling, we conducted multiple tests to document the reduction in humidity while AX was being used. We noted up to a 57% reduction in humidity under the body armor when AX was being used.

How durable is the material used to make Arctic Xtreme ?

The ARCTIC Xtreme patent-pending vest is made from a soft, high quality, pliable ripstop nylon to ensure lasting use.

Is the Arctic Xtreme vest unisex?

Yes. Because of the high quality and pliable material it is made from, AX simply forms to the shape of your body armor that you normally wear. Just ensure you are ordering the right size by going to the "Sizing" page on the website to help you chose which AX is right for you.

Will the AX vest make me warmer?

Before bringing AX to market, testing was done to see if temperature and humidity levels changed under your body armor when AX was worn, and when it was not attached to body armor. NO difference was noted as we attribute this to the fact your body armor is non-breathable and once attached, AX is simply positioned under the body armor and is made of a very thin material.

If the AC in the car doesn't work, what affect will it have on how ARCTIC Xtreme works?

When we were designing and testing AX, we realized we only needed to use ambient air in the cab of the unit and didn't need AC air. Because of the extreme contrast between outside/ambient air hitting the hot, humid air trapped under your body armor, you will still notice an instant chilled sensation like getting out of a hot sauna and reduction of humidity.  So you will realize AC is NOT necessarily needed. However, when your unit's AC is working, just roll up your windows and get the cooler air sucked into the pump and shot through the hundreds of AX vents on your body.

No Velcro "loop" on your current body armor ?

We've only come across one body armor that had this situation and realized it was 8 years old and out of warranty for their manufacture's guarantee. All newer body armor that we came across did not have this issue.

So we first we ask you check the date your body armor was manufactured as body armor does degrade over time due to a variety of reasons. Manufacturers of body armor usually have dates they no longer warranty the product, which is around 5 years. As a result your agency should have issued you a new body armor when that date expired.

However, if you have a newer body armor from a manufacturer that does not have this, we recommend you taking a picture of your body armor and sending it to us along with the name of the company that made your body armor. We will send you four adhesive velcro "loop" pieces that you simply line up and attach to where AX will attach on your body armor. You can then just leave AX attached at the end of each shift. * But please first check the manufacturer date of your body armor and see if you are eligible for a newer one.

Will the material of T-shirt I wear make that much of a difference?

Research showed ARCTIC Xtreme had great benefits with all types of T-shirt material patrol officers wore under their body armor. Due to the moisture wicking technology that exists, we noticed this seemed to further help in keeping moisture and humidity off the body and the circulation of air helping dry this type of T-shirt better than cotton. Either way, due to the amount of ambient and/or air conditioned air inside the cab of the vehicle that is forced and distributed on your body through AX vents, we noticed significant results in helping evaporation regardless of the material.

Can you clarify the "run-time" of the pump and how often you can use it?

Because of the immediate relief and affects you feel, 15-60 seconds is all we believe that is needed to get noticeable results. Research showed most people didn't need to use it again for 30 minutes to 1 hour after each use on hot days. On average days, some went hours before the next use. This also depends on how often you are getting out of your unit on a hot day or if you work in much hotter and humid areas.  Either way, it'll be there for you when you get back in your unit.

If you're using the pump system to dry sweat on your face, head and neck (not attached to the vest), you can run the pump for 10 minutes if you so chose; however, you will likely accomplish this in a minute or so.

Is the pump's noise an issue ?

The pump system is only needed for 15-60 seconds at a time for amazing benefits. With the hose attached to the pump and attaching the magnetic pump system between the two front seats in a low position (as shown on the install video), the pump's noise is not an issue.  The police radio was able to be heard and always can be turned up slightly for the short durations of use if needed.

We conducted a decibel check on our pump system when in use and incorporated it into a decibel diagram. See diagram to the right >
